Acer takes on the Eee Box with the Blu-ray enabled Aspire X3200 mini desktop PC
It’s a full-on mini PC war!
They took on the Eee PC with their Acer Aspire One, and now they look set to do the same with ASUS’ Eee Box, with the announcement of the Aspire X3200 desktop PC – an upgrade from the previous one, with a Blu-ray drive and 1TB of storage

Measuring about the same size as your standard internet router at home, the X3200 is less than a third the size of the average desktop PC tower. Featuring an AMD Phenom quad-core processor, NVIDIA GeForce 8200 chip and up to 4GB of DDR2 memory, it’s just the right size and power for your home computing needs.

Internal storage, on the other hand, is whopping in size – Acer will pack up to 1TB of SATA hard disk drive. That’s a heck of a lot of home movies.
Speaking of movies, Acer has also generously popped in a Blu-ray drive plus HDMI output for connecting to your TV. High-def audio with a 5.1 channel surround sound, and Dolby Home Theater technology just adds to the power of this minute beast.

The AMD LIVE! platform, whilst annoyingly capitalised, enables home-sharing of all your media, throughout multiple rooms in your pad. And yes, before you ask – you have a choice in operating systems here…between Windows Vista Home Premium and Windows Vista Home Basic. All very odd, considering they’d just claimed Vista was “almost done”.
We haven’t managed to discover the availability of the Acer Aspire X3200 desktop PC, however the price looks set to be £240.

The Acer X3200 mini desktop doesn’t skimp on features though, so don’t be fooled by its diminutive size. This model features the following to help you jump straight into the world of high definition entertainment :-

* Quad-core AMD processor
* HDMI connectivity
* Blu-ray player
* Max. 4GB RAM
* Max. 1TB storage space
* Nvideo GeForce 8200 graphics processor

How do I find the model of motherboard used in my Acer Aspire desktop PC?

Monday, May 10th, 2010

I have an Acer Aspire X3810 SFF Desktop PC, Core 2 Quad Q8200 2.33GHz, 3GB RAM, 320GB HDD, etc.

An example is here: http://www.ebuyer.com/product/167441

I’m considering switch the internals of the PC over to a new PC case as I didn’t realise it was low profile when I bought it and now I’m limited on upgrading – most graphics cards don’t fit, power supply is paltry, etc.

I’m looking to find out the model of the motherboard so I can determine its form factor – which I’m told I’ll need when picking out a new case so that it fits correctly. Does anyone know how I can find out this information? Or alternatively, does anyone know what motherboard it uses?

I don’t really want to open the case until I’m ready to upgrade, if I can avoid it, as I think the warranty relies on the case not being opened so no point invalidating it until I know for certain I’m making the changes.

Any help would be much appreciated!

How do I remove the case and front panel from an Acer Aspire E700 desktop PC?

Saturday, April 24th, 2010

How do I remove the case and front panel from an Acer Aspire E700 desktop PC? I need to add a 2nd DVD player.

The system came with no manual and there is little information on the Acer site. I can get the left side panel off (left side if looking at the front of the computer) – but I can’t seem to access the clips on the right side to remove the front panel.

Here’s a link to a photo of the computer:
